The quiet cost

Idle money shrinks every year.

Inflation takes a small share of your cash’s buying power each year. Over a decade it adds up. Move the sliders to see what your savings will really be worth.

The multiplier

Time does the heavy lifting.

A fixed monthly investment, left alone, can grow on its own growth. The longer it runs, the more the curve bends. Waiting has a price too.

The return is an assumption you choose. It is not a forecast or a promise. Equity returns vary and can be negative.

Principles

Three habits of disciplined money.

01

Think long term

Equity investing tends to reward patience, discipline and a clear time horizon.

02

Stay informed

Opportunities arise across sectors and companies. Awareness helps you evaluate them calmly.

03

Respect risk

Markets can fall as well as rise. Invest only money you will not need in the short term.

Before every rupee goes in

Four questions to ask yourself

  • What is my time horizon?
  • Do I understand what I am buying?
  • How much of a fall can I live with?
  • Will I need this money soon?
Derivatives (F&O) carry significantly higher risk. Trade in them only after you fully understand the risks involved.

Questions

Before you ask.

Is Capital Cresta a stock broker?

No. Capital Cresta Financial Services is an Authorised Person of SMC Global Securities Ltd, a SEBI-registered stock broker (SEBI Reg. No. INZ000199438). Your trading and demat accounts are opened and held with SMC.

Who holds my money and my shares?

Your funds sit in your own trading account with SMC. Your shares sit in your own demat account with the depository (NSDL or CDSL). Capital Cresta never holds your money or your securities, and never accepts cash.

Do you give tips or recommendations?

No. We are not registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser or Research Analyst. We share market updates from public, regulated sources and explain how things work. Every decision is yours. Be careful of anyone who offers “sure-shot tips” or guaranteed returns.

What will it cost me?

Brokerage and other charges are as per SMC’s tariff, which you receive and accept in writing when you open your account. Statutory charges such as STT, exchange fees, stamp duty, SEBI fees and GST apply as per law. Every charge shows on the contract note SMC sends you for each trade.

How can I check my own transactions?

You receive a contract note from SMC for every trade, SMS and email alerts directly from the exchanges, and a consolidated account statement every month from NSDL or CDSL. You can also log in to SMC’s platforms at any time.

Can I place orders myself?

Yes. SMC gives you its own trading platforms. You can place orders yourself, or instruct us to place them for you. Either way, the account and every decision stay yours.

What if I have a complaint?

Speak to us first. If it is not resolved, write to SMC’s investor grievance desk. You can then take it to SEBI through SCORES, or to online dispute resolution through SMART ODR. The links are just below.

Investor protection

Attention investors.

Notices from the exchanges and SEBI, issued in the interest of investors.

Prevent unauthorised transactions

Update your mobile number and email ID with your stock broker and depository participant. You will then receive details of your transactions directly from the exchange and depository at the end of the day.

KYC is a one-time exercise

Once your KYC is done through a SEBI-registered intermediary such as a broker, depository participant or mutual fund, you do not need to repeat it when you approach another intermediary.

No cheques for IPOs

When you apply for an IPO, you do not issue a cheque. You authorise your bank to block the amount through UPI or ASBA, and it is debited only if shares are allotted to you.

Check your statement

Check the securities, mutual funds and bonds in the consolidated account statement sent to you by NSDL or CDSL every month.
